Apple Prepares for Leadership Transition as Tim Cook Nears Retirement
Apple Inc. is accelerating plans for a CEO succession, with current hardware chief John Ternus emerging as the leading candidate to replace Tim Cook. The tech giant could announce the transition as early as 2026, following its January earnings report.
The leadership change WOULD cap Cook's transformative 14-year tenure, during which Apple's market valuation soared from $350 billion to $4 trillion. The board reportedly aims to complete the handover before critical product cycles, including the annual developer conference and iPhone launch.
Ternus, who currently oversees all hardware engineering, represents continuity for Apple's Core product development strategy. His potential elevation follows recent executive departures including CFO Luca Maestri and COO Jeff Williams earlier this year.
